I have decided to make a difference this year, firstly by sharing my families Melanoma story and by creating my very own fundraising page for Melanoma March.  My Mum & I are Marching for anyone who has been impacted by Melanoma.  

Having a loved one affected by a malignant melanoma diagnosis 18 years ago, being that support person for them during the treatment process, I have since been cautious of preventing the risk of sun damage to my own skin, my children's and that of others. 

Most recently, I had my annual skin check and a pre melanoma mole was identified, biopsied and removed by a Skin Cancer Doctor. It was thanks to her recommendations 5 years ago, to have full body images taken and stored to refer back to for any changes. I was considered to be at higher risk, given my family history, growing up in Nth Queensland, sunbaking as a teen and now with over 100 freckles and moles on my body.

 

My message here is to simply help spread awareness to prevent skin cancer and for more vital research to always continue. In life, I have always given more than I have ever expected to receive, so I'm not asking for anything, just sharing our experience in the hope it will prevent others and to become more sun safe, look after your skin, do regular skin checks and always seek SHADE!
